Sandra, Russell and Brian

Sandra and Russell embarked on their life long dream of caring for animals and took over Tharfield Kennels in 2011 along with Russell's dad, Brian. Russell is a qualified electrician and is your go-to-man for anything that needs fixing. He likes being outdoors and works really hard with the garden and paddocks keeping them looking nice. He has owned dogs since he was 10 years old so has plenty of experience in caring for them. Russell is a fully qualified Canine and Feline First Aider. Sandra worked in admin prior to buying the kennels and has a background in customer care and quality assurance. She has had cats all her life and she works wonders with cats who are nervous and timid. Sandra holds a BSc Science degree with the Open University and she is a fully qualified Canine and Feline First Aider.

Together Sandra and Russell have rescued many dogs and cats over the years. Currently they have Jedi, Caly and Jonny who are all Romanian Rescue dogs. You probably won't see them when you come to the kennels but you'll most likely hear them! Jedi, Caly and Jonny are all special in their own way and have their quirks coming from being street dogs. There are also ex-battery rescue hens in residence so if you'd like some eggs let us know.

Brian is the patriarch of the family. He has always had dogs and as much as he doesn't like to admit it he loves them. He is an avid bird watcher and veg and fruit grower as well as being a resourceful handy-man. Brian recently took on a little Papillon called Ollie who keeps him very much on his toes. Ollie can be found haring around the house usually with a ball in his mouth.

Hana

Hana joined the family in 2013 and she has always had a passion for animals, especially dogs and horses. Since the age of fourteen Hana has been volunteering at a Canine Hydrotherapy centre where she developed an interest in Veterinary Physiotherapy. She holds a City and Guilds L3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management, City and Guilds L3 Dog Grooming qualification and a Canine and Feline First Aid Certificate. After finishing college Hana decided to go to university to follow her dream of becoming a Veterinary Physiotherapist. She achieved her dream in September 2020 completing her BSc (Hons) Veterinary Physiotherapy degree (she is not quite ready to take on clients but watch this space!). Hana took on her first rescue cat in 2015 called Obi who can be often be seen around Tharfield laying in the sunshine.

The Tharfield Team

Tharfield is very lucky to have a team of young people who help out during the week. Each member is dedicated to the care of your pets so be sure to say hi when you see them.
